Why Self-Care and Self-Love Is Still So Important To Practice, Daily.

Self-love and self-care are unfortunately not the most natural of human acts. Why is it much easier for us to show love and affection to others, but it's tough deal when it comes to ourselves?

It may be difficult to feel self-love if we have deep subconscious views about ourselves, as a result of our past indoctrination. Because it appears that a lack of self-love and self-care is at the root of difficult experiences. So how do we change this belief, and develop a love for ourselves, that will ultimately improve our confidence, self-esteem and life. Here's how.

1. Recognize that you are in the midst of a human experience.

2. Accept yourself as you are, with all of your strengths and flaws. Remember that mistakes necessitate correction rather than punishment.

3. Forgive yourself for any past mistakes you've made.

4. Recall your innocence; you were once a newborn, trying to make sense of the universe. You haven't lost your innocence.

5. Examine your eating habits - you are what you eat.

6. Make good decisions. Begin with tiny adjustments. Drinking a warm glass of lime water first thing in the morning, for example, flushes toxins from the body.

7. Pay attention to the words you use. Words have a lot of power. When you speak critically about yourself, you are subliminally teaching yourself that you are unworthy.

8. Try to think positively. It's a lot simpler to say than it is to do. When you're wired to see the negative all the time, it takes a while to see the bright side of things.

9. Keep in mind what you're consuming from social media. This isn't about being oblivious; it's about taking care of oneself and your mind.

10. Practice being present in the moment. We can take a break from the exhaustion of constant thinking by focusing on the current moment.
